The NBPA joins first ELPA Performance International Congress (EPIC)

In less than 20 days, the European professional sports ecosystem will gather under first ELPA Performance International Congress (EPIC).

The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) joins the congress, with Joe Rogowski, Chief Medical Officer at the NBPA, sharing his work and his point of view on the importance of the “Second Medical Opinion”.

“Many of our members at the NBPA spend time playing in Europe. Participating in this inaugural event organized by ELPA goes a long way in expanding our support for international players and exchanging knowledge and expertise in the sports medicine and performance science fields”, said Joe Rogowski.

During his session, Joe Rogowski will explain why it is necessary for the NBPA to collaborate with the NBA when creating the Second Medical Opinion protocol and how it impacted the trust in the process and decision making. “Second Medical Opinion” has also been one of the most important ELPA improvements, implemented for the players of Euroleague.

Following Joe Rogowski’s session, Professor Luke Bornn, analyst at the Sacramento Kings and AS Roma and former professor of statistics at Harvard University will take the stage. Together with ELPA Performance Advisory Board sports data science expert Jaime Sampaio he will talk about data science and mapping NBA strategies.

In total, the congress will cover eight different sports performance areas and discussions. Over 1300 attendants have already registered to EPIC. Registration is still open, so make sure you do not miss this unique event!
