A productive Players’Board meeting in Barcelona

Before the start of the new Euroleague season, Player’s Board met in Barcelona to confirm the overview of previous year and set goals for the next one. The Players’Board was represented by Gigi Datome, Kyle Hines, Tornike Shengelia and Jake Cohen.

« We had so many ideas, things to share through the players, all the problems that we had. ELPA is helping to solve those problems, set the goals and make us feel safe. In the end of the day, unity is the key. If you don’t have all the players on the same page, it’s not gonna work » explained Vice President Tornike Shengelia from Kirolbet Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz.

ELPA Managing Director Bostjan Nachbar, ELPA Secretary General Anze Blazic, ELPA Advisor Walter Jeklin and ELPA Legal Department José Lasa Azpeitia followed up on recent improvements.

The Player’s Board also discussed the next steps and debated on some topics ELPA is working on, such as the development of Collective Bargaining Agreement.

« We want current players and also future players to have better opportunities in the game. I think that’s the most important for me. We want to help the future basketball grow. We’re setting the foundation for something that is gonna remain here in Europe for many years to come. And I think we’re gonna provide many players with great benefits and good opportunities to help grow the game of basketball » said First Vice President Kyle Hines from CSKA Moscow.

Following this productive meeting, ELPA Management will continue to meet Euroleague Teams in the next few days.
